If you have seen the Escaflowne TV series, chances are high that you have at least heard of the Escaflowne movie. If you haven’t, here’s a rundown: the movie is not a sequel or prequel to the Escaflowne TV series. Instead, it is a retelling of the Escaflowne series, done very, very differently.
How differently? Instead of Hitomi being a happy, average girl who does track, she has clinical depression.
The movie follows the basic storyline of Escaflowne (Hitomi goes to Gaea and meets Van) yet since it is a movie, the storyline is simpler and the characters are vastly different (example- Millerna: Warrior Princess. No, I'm not kidding.).
That isn’t to say the movie is bad; I enjoyed it immensely and liked the dark and depressing Hitomi as much as the TV series Hitomi. So, I decided to make a shrine to the character of Hitomi in Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea.
At the shrine you'll find much of what you find here: character analysis, a gallery, etc. only smaller since she is a character in a 90 minute movie. ^_^ Thank you very much for visiting!
